Let me tell you my story…

My name is János Czakó, I was born on 6 March, 1965, exactly sixty-five years to the day after Gottlieb Daimler – founder of the Mercedes brand – left us in 1900.

Looking back, it doesn’t seem to be a coincidence anymore. I’ve loved cars since I was born. I was already familiar with tools when I was a preschool child, and alongside my father, I absorbed the passion and tricks of car assembly.

I am still fascinated by most vehicles, regardless of brand, but I have to admit, when I see a Mercedes, I get a tingle of excitement.

German and Italian models are the ones closest to my heart. My colleagues and I look at all our work as uncut diamonds, which are being prepared for a gala evening.

Who are we?

The history of Antik Autó Trade goes back to a Mercedes 170 S bought in 1985, which was my first vintage car.

Since then we have established our business and have been developing it since 2006.

Our job is our hobby and our hobby is cars. We have more than 40 restored vehicles behind our team, with which we continuously achieve success.  Do you ask how?

Brands, we work wonders with!

We are most familiar with German and Italian car types, although our knowledge and passion for cars are independent of the brand. The most frequent guests in our workshop are Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen air-cooled models, BMW, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, and Maserati.

How do we work?

You have to take a completely different approach to a classic vehicle than you do to a conventional car that has just come off the production line. We think in phases and document everything carefully, because these wonderful vehicles require unique solutions and special care.

  • Every project starts with disassembly, while the parts that need to be replaced are listed one by one. We take separate photos of each work phase and component so that no mistakes can slip into the process. The elements that can be refurbished are dismantled, cleaned, and the necessary surface treatment is carried out in each case.
  • The bare bodywork is cleaned using a variety of methods: sandblasting, acid cleaning, or sanding. The work on the car body is carried out to high quality, using factory methods and welds.  
  • The restoration and renovation of the engine, transmission, and running gear is taking place at the same time as the paintwork. During the polishing process, the factory layers are built back on the raw plate surfaces. Our polishers carefully wait for the drying time of each material, as it is always made using the entire system of a manufacturer. We make special effort to set back the refurbished cars’ original color scheme. Sometimes the owner may decide otherwise, in which case we adapt to his needs.
  • The upholstery is also made using high-quality materials.
  • Testing begins after complete assembly, as in many cases old, refurbished parts are combined with new, factory parts and aftermarket parts. Our goal is to reveal all deficiencies during the test period, not later. Testing is followed by the technical exam and old timer classification. 
  • After that, the handover comes, and our little ‘child’ can start its new journey. During the time spent with us, we closed every car in our hearts.  
  • We offer a three-year corrosion warranty for the bodywork, plus a one-year or 50,000 km warranty for the other components.

We believe that every single model has a soul, right down to the last screw. To see the past come alive in our hands, combined with today’s modern technology is like seeing a long-lost grandchild on the screen of your smart device.

Where miracles happen…

In our 900 m² workshop, five colleagues work to ensure that your car receives all the service it needs to leave us in the best condition and quality. Paint, chrome, and upholstery work is carried out by our reliable external partners.  

So far, more than forty cars have left our workshop to become the pride of their owners or the star of exhibitions.
